The TTE855 is an original RS3 8V.2/TTRS 8S turbocharger for the DAZA & DNWA 2.5 TFSI EVO engine that we at THETURBOENGINEERS have converted into a hybrid with industry-leading performance, but which is still plug-and-play and fits with an upgrade intake.
The TTE855 Hybrid turbocharger was the evolution of our acclaimed TTE777. Using some key features such as the larger billet compressor and CNC porting and other gas flow improvements and of course the highly proven TTE upgraded bearing system.
The compressor wheel has been replaced with a milled aluminium wheel with state-of-the-art geometry, a 7+7 blade, producing extra power. We have also replaced the original exhaust turbine with a much larger but very lightweight 9-blade TTE turbine for lower exhaust back pressure, increasing performance. We also fitted a proven TTE motorsport upgrade bearing system for durability.
As always, boost response is a key consideration when designing this unit and it does not disappoint with test results of 500 Nm at just 2620 rpm and 900 Nm at 3500 rpm!
On the TTE855 stage, we CNC ported the exhaust manifold to match the OEM gasket at the head flange and smoothed the transition in each exhaust bend to improve gas velocity and flow, improving the efficiency of the much larger 9-blade, low-mass turbine and driving the larger compressor harder. We also made other power adjustments on the turbine side of the TTE855 to increase gas flow.
